Global Rescue for One was founded by Daniel Martin, the president of Worldwide Missionary Outreach (WMO). Mr. Martin has been doing missionary work for more than thirty years and has experienced the needs of impoverished peoples firsthand. Over the last ten years Mr. Martin, along with the other missionaries of WMO, have taken on many humanitarian projects. They have sponsored these efforts out of their own pockets, and from love gifts of other kind hearted people. With the growth of these projects, and their own missionary program, the time has come to shift their focus back on their missionary work and give these other efforts a chance to grow to their full potential. GR41 has taken on the efforts, goals, and responsibilities of some of these humanitarian projects, primarily the Search and Rescue operation.
The goal of GR41 is to help suffering humanity however we can. We use vehicles to transport food, medical supplies, and clothing to areas where it is needed most. We also help by being ready and available to assist in disaster relief by providing drinking water, food, sanitary facilities, and temporary shelters. We use our emergency vehicles to transport people to where they can get medical attention. When we go into an area, we work together with the local governments as well as the military. We transport wounded soldiers back to their families and friends when they have no way to get back home. Once we are established in an area, we are on call with our vehicles twenty-four hours a day. We sponsor medical relief projects for mothers and children. We provide hot meals to malnourished and starving children. We put in pumps and water lines to provide water in places where they have to walk for miles to get fresh water. We do many things as simple as providing blankets to mothers that have nothing to wrap their newborn babies in, helping with burial expenses when families lose loved ones, and supplying reading glasses for the elderly.
There are many things that we have been able to accomplish, and many more that we would like to achieve with your help, for the needs around the world are overwhelming. We know that we have to do something for these people, and can relate to this short story by Loren Eisley:
The Starfish Story
One day a man was walking along the beach when he noticed a boy
picking something up and gently throwing it into the ocean.
Approaching the boy, he asked, “What are you doing?”
The youth replied, “Throwing starfish back into the ocean. The surf is up
and the tide is going out. If I don’t throw them back, they’ll die.”
“Son,” the man said, “don’t you realize there are miles and miles of beach
and hundreds of starfish? You can’t make a difference!”
After listening politely, the boy bent down, picked up another starfish,
and threw it back into the surf. Then, smiling at the man, he said…
“I made a difference for that one.”
With your help, we will continue to do all that we can to rescue the helpless around the world giving them hope for a better tomorrow. We know that we can’t help everyone, but we can change lives one at a time. This is what Global Rescue for One is all about.
